Wholesale Fish Company location in the New Fulton Fish Market, Bronx is seeking an experienced Operations Controller for a 6:00am – 3:00pm shift  with a proven track record to play a key managing role.

Summary

Under the direction of the Group Controller and the CFO, plan, direct and organize the daily activities of the Finance and Accounting staff. producing accurate and timely reporting of financial and operational results, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements

Tasks/Responsibilities

•           Working with the Group Controller (Nancy) and CFO (Mike), manage all accounting functions for two Seafood Distribution and Sales operating entities, including:

o          Directing Month-End Closing in a timely and accurate manner

o          Generating Operational and Financial Reports

o          Manage GL, AP, AR, Payroll, Commission Reporting, Cash Management, Collections, Cost Accounting, Tax and Regulatory Compliance, Annual Audit and Tax Return Prep

o          Supervise a Staff of 10+

o          Assure that all company, corporate and normal business, ethical and internal control standards are closely adhered to.

•           Maintain continuous focus on providing outstanding customer service (both internal and external).

•           Direct and supervise the office staff. Coach to improve subordinates performance. Hold employees accountable for meeting Market Center goals. Recruit, select, train, develop and motivate a qualified personnel staff.

•           Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports providing specific and detailed feedback on their sales skills and attainment of activity, territory, revenue and profit plans.

•           Solicit appropriate expertise of CFO, Group Controller, Operations Management and Company Staff to assure proper resolution to complex issues.

•           Monitor and Maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulation that affect Operations.

•           Support an environment of continuous improvement by making suggestions and implementing where possible.

•           Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

•                    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

•                    5-7 years experience in a controllership function, preferably in distribution environment

CPA preferred

•           Knowledge of Food Service Industry a Plus

•           Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

•           Knowledge of ERP systems and integrated financial and margin reporting

•           Ability to supervise a staff of direct and indirect reports

•           Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple projects

•           Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•           Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

•           Proficiency with MAS 200/500 or comparable ERP Accounting package

•          Some weekends and overtime work will be required.
