Senior Petrophysicist, O&G E&P ~ Ventura, CA

 

In General incumbent will:

 

  • Provide comprehensive petrophysical support to the company’s Unconventional Resources and Development Teams in drilling, testing, and completions operations.


More specifically the incumbent will be tasked with:

 

  • Collaborating closely with the subsurface team, the drilling team, and the completions team.
  • Design, monitor, and interpret the formation evaluation programs for all drill wells (10-20 wells per year is the likely range).
  • QA/QC all log information as it is obtained.
  • Ensure the quality is validated before the logging company is allowed to leave location.
  • Provide an immediate interpretation when necessary to support testing and/or completion efforts and develop core analysis programs and SCAL programs as necessary.
  • Provide oversight/QA/QC during the laboratory experiments.
  • Evaluate the results and incorporate them into the overall characterization of the respective development programs.
  • Integrate the petrophysical information into the ongoing reservoir characterization efforts in the various assets.
  • Maintain/instill good data management practices consistent with company policies and focusing on data integrity.

 

Qualified candidates will possess:

 

  • A degree in Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Mining or Geological Engineering.
  • 10+ years of oil industry petrophysics experience (including recent experience with an operating oil company).
  • Ability to interpret/integrate various types of petrophysical data such as logging-while-drilling, wireline logs, core (conventional analysis and SCAL), and formation tests.
  • Well site operational experience.
  • Ability to use Prizm (Geographix) software.
  • Note ~ there is a strong preference for support experiences within California plays, and experience with the Monterey formation is a definite plus.
