US-CA-Taft/Bakersfield ~ Mechanical Engineer ~ Petrochemical / Refining Industry
In general the incumbent will have demonstrated their ability to:
· Provide engineering and project management for a variety of projects including specification and sizing of pumps, compressors, air coolers, and heat exchangers as well as piping design.
· Be actively and competently involved with estimating, negotiating contracts with vendors, and project management.
· Understand and work with applicable ASME, TEMA, and API codes.
More specifically the incumbent will:
· Perform general facility engineering mass balance, heat transfer, fluid hydraulics, and piping stress analysis calculations.
· Apply knowledge and experience through management of “R” & “U” stamp procedures.
· Perform required calculations on vessels and exchangers for “R” stamp work.
· Perform pipe stress calculations.
· Specify rotating equipment.
· Evaluate vendor quotations for mechanical equipment.
· Provide a thorough mechanical engineering review of our modularized refinery designs.
· Assist with developing and maintaining the QA/QC program.
· Help with equipment inspections for newly purchased items.
· Participate in process piping layout, bulk storage tank farm design, pipeline design, and hydrotesting.
· Work closely with our Designers on process and equipment drawings.
· Read and prepare project drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, plans, sections, and isometric piping drawings and bills of materials.
· Support project hazard recognition through process hazard analysis.
· Assist with marketing activities as technical support.
Qualified candidates will possess:
· 5+ years of progressive experience in dealing with oil & gas refining equipment.
· Experience with refinery and/or gas plant general facility engineering support tasks.
· P.E. preferred.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Desire to lead interdisciplinary projects and project teams.
· Willingness to travel and provide support at job sites.
· Unsponsored right to work in US.
