Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The senior piping engineer provides leadership and resolution on all technical issues related to the practice. The Senior Piping Engineer defines and develops the plan to meet the project requirements and manages the group to achieve the expected results on quality, cost and schedule. In addition to assisting in the resolution of technical issues the senior piping engineer manages resource allocation, budgets, and overall coordination with other disciplines. Have a clear understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule. Develop, with the assistance of others, the man-hour budgets required to perform all piping engineering work based on required deliverables and time based functions. Develop the manpower-staffing plan for all piping functions and revise as required during design evolution. Develop the piping work plan for insertion into the project specific execution plan. Prepare the piping deliverables list and manage and review the development of the engineering work packages (EWP) associated with all deliverables and time based functions. Review and approve the piping design criteria documents. Review and approve the piping engineering and design standards. Assign work tasks (via signed-off EWP s) to individuals and continuously monitor progress and quality. Represent the piping practice in the project s engineering coordination meetings. Schedule, coordinate and participate in design reviews. Ensure coordination of activities between the group and other practices is being performed as design evolves. Manage personnel accordingly to respect the man-hour budget. Assign individuals to development of the 2D deliverable list. Coordinate production of designs in 3D intelligent design environment. Work with the local Hub management to ensure adequate resources are mobilized to the project. Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required. Facilitate the sharing of technical expertise both across projects and other Hatch offices. Perform quality audit verifications to ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. Instigate corrective actions as required. Report, through the project trend log, any deviations from the baseline scope of work. Review and approve the estimated direct and indirect costs associated with the additional work and its effect on project schedule. Collaborate with the client s piping representative to ensure full, appropriate communication and co-ordination in the achievement of the project objectives. Prepare enquiry documents, scopes of work, datasheets, etc. Prepare studies and reports as required by the project. Execute calculations as required. Mentoring of young engineering staff. Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 15 years engineering experience with an engineering contracting or consultancy organisation. Possess strong communication and soft skills and be able to function independently with minimal supervision or as a member of a multidiscipline team. Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the piping engineering discipline. General multi-discipline knowledge and ability to manage other engineers and designers.
