Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities First responder to all electrical and fire alarm issues. Primary focus of attention is the mission-critical electrical systems supporting the LA Production Center. These systems consist of three (3) diesel-driven emergency generators, paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS system, automatic transfer switches and Main-Tie-Main Distribution Switchgear. These systems support live origination television studios. Successful candidates will be required to troubleshoot problems on their own with the aid of building system drawings, equipment submittals and manufacturers operation s manuals. Qualified applicants will posses a working knowledge of physical plant safety programs and shall be able to demonstrate understanding of fire life safety procedures and requirements. Assists with various electrical and non-electrical project requests from Studio Production, Technology Group and Production Operations. Responds via phone to after hours and weekend trouble calls and coordinates on-call third-party service response Basic Qualifications A minimum of 7 years of experience working under a State of CA licensed C10 contractor and a current state of CA Journeyman Electrician certificate. Experience with all aspects of power distribution including generators, paralleling switchgear, circuit distribution and UPS systems. Experience with wiring and protection, branch circuit and feeder calculation, over-current protection and grounding requirements. Experience with wiring methods and materials, conductors, cables, raceways, flexible cords, switchboards and panelboards. Experience with motors, motor circuits and motor controllers. Experience with DC power systems including storage batteries, DC charging circuits, controls, maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience with diesel-engine generators and step-down transformers. Experience with fire pumps, emergency systems including inverters and Fire Alarm Systems. A thorough operational understanding of emergency generators and Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) is required. Successful candidates will have experience with Notifier fire alarm systems, VESDA Smoke Detection Systems, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems, Veeder Root Fuel Oil Monitoring systems, Trace-Tek Liquid Leak Detection equipment, Cummins Diesel generators, GE Paralleling switchgear, GE UPS s, and GE Power Management & Control Systems. Qualified candidates must be able to display an ability to read, understand and decipher electrical drawings, schematics and connection diagrams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in high reliability power systems in a live television studio environment is a plus.
