Production Shift Supervisor (fertilizer/agricultural industry)

The  Plant Manager at the Brandon, Manitoba facility is responsible for the manufacturing of Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, UAN and other fertilizer products, meeting market demands cost effectively, and meeting stake holder expectations.

This facility is a key asset in the Company's portfolio of fertilizer assets.  The facility has the capability to manufacture a diverse slate of products to capture opportunities is fluctuating markets.  The right candidate will have the opportunity to drive and capture operations improvements which will have a significant impact on the business.

Reports to:  Production Leader

General Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overseeing the performance, training and safe conduct of a crew of 20-25 hourly employees.
• Provides leadership in the manufacture of our products to meet our vision of safety, environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
• Has primary responsibility for the safety of the people, integrity of equipment and efficient operation of the entire plant site while on shift.
• Must be able to fluctuate between working day shifts and 12-hour rotating shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years experience in process operations in a unionized environment.
• 2ndClass Power Engineering Certificate is preferred, but equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered (minimum Grade XII).
• Emergency Response, First Aid and Industrial Fire Fighting will also be considered assets.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous: always in communication with other personnel
• Frequent: Walking, Standing, Sitting, Use of hands
• Occasional:  Climbing, Reaching, Squatting
• Lifting: Regularly up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, colour vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
• Occasional work in high, precarious places; outside work in all weather conditions
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
• Noise level is usually moderate.
