SERVICE MANAGER
Fort Mackay, Alberta


Reporting to the Branch Manager and in cooperation with the branch management team, the Service Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of the in-shop service and repair of machines and equipment; in-plant reconditioning and remanufacturing of components; and for field service and repair of machines and equipment.  The Service Manager is also responsible for plant and plant equipment maintenance and repair, housekeeping and security.  In addition, the Manager is responsible to ensure that all short and long term performance objectives are attained, policies and procedures are observed and that all reports are receiving proper training and development, that high employee morale is maintained.

Job Duties Overview:
 

  • Through direct service supervisory staff; manages up to 4 teams of  8-10 technicians (Licensed Electrical and Mechanical & Apprentice Technicians )
  • Provides direction and leadership required to achieve professional technical services at profitable and quality standards
  • Develops and stewards to planned service departmental objectives
  • Determines repair methodology  and job flows to maximize the effectiveness, the efficiency and customer satisfaction of the service functions
  • Maintains all service, warranty related documentation
  • Maintains all efficiency and management reports and reporting methods
  • Provides leadership and coaching to the team necessary to develop diagnostic, safety, efficient and effective high quality work
  • Other duties as required
 
Qualifications Required:
 
  • Must have an Engineering / Technologist Certification or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician 
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the heavy equipment industry with at least5 years at the supervisory and management level
  • Computer proficiency with strong MS Office  background
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Solid shop floor management experience
  • Effective leader with the ability to motivate a team and work under pressure
