About This Position
The Addictions Therapist serves as the primary contact for clients with substance use, abuse or dependency problems, or problem gambling issues. Treatment models could include individual or group cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing or stepped-care approaches. Intensive case management skills are also required. The Addictions Therapist is responsible for guiding the client in his/her treatment plan through to eventual discharge or even post-treatment.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a university degree in psychology, social work, behavioural sciences or in a related field. A specialization in substance abuse and problem gambling, as well as two years experience, would be an asset.
Experience and interest in working with youth (16 –24 years of age) preferred
The applicants should also be fluent in both French and English, have a valid Ontario driver’s license, be organized and autonomous, and have good team-work capabilities.

Le ou la thérapeute en toxicomanie sert de contact primaire pour la clientèle aux prises avec des problèmes de consommation ou d’abus de substances, de dépendance à ces dernières, ou de jeu compulsif. Les modèles de traitement peuvent inclure la thérapie cognitivo-comportementale, l’entrevue motivationnelle ou des approches de soins par paliers, soit sur une base individuelle ou en groupe. Des habiletés en gestion intensive de cas sont aussi requises. Le ou la titulaire est responsable de guider la clientèle dans le plan de traitement jusqu’au congé ou jusque dans le post-traitement.
qualifications
La personne candidate devrait détenir un diplôme universitaire en psychologie, en travail social, en sciences du comportement ou dans un domaine connexe. Une spécialisation en abus de substances et dans le jeu compulsif ainsi que deux années d’expérience seraient un atout. Il serait préférable d’avoir un intérêt et de l’expérience avec la jeunesse (16-24 ans). La personne candidate devrait aussi s’exprimer avec aisance en anglais et en français, détenir un permis de conduire valide de l’Ontario, être autonome et avoir le sens de l’organisation ainsi que l’esprit d’équipe.
