We are searching for a Purchasing Assistant to join our Structures team in Calgary, Alberta. The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for assisting in the procurement of materials, equipment and/or services for our structures division. This position will assist to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment and/or services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists Purchasers in their procurement activities.
- Processes approved Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders in accordance to company policy and procedures.
- Assists in expediting and tracking incoming material by contacting the vendors for follow up.
- Maintains purchasing documents, files and records (e.g. Requests for Proposals, vendor files, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with company policy and procedures.
- Performs general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. filing, copying, scanning, faxing, etc.) for the purpose of supporting departmental activities.
- Responds to inquiries by internal customers regarding purchasing activities and procedures for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
- Complies with standards and procedures of the health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Abilities and Educational Background
- Minimum one to two years experience working in an administrative/clerical role.
- Previous experience in a purchasing department an asset.
- Work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to start and complete multiple tasks.
- Must be detail oriented and committed to accuracy.
- Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).
- Must be a team player.
- Possesses superb communication and customer services skills.
Candidate must have access to a vehicle as location is not accessible by public transit.
