Quality Improvement Director

 

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is currently seeking a Quality Improvement Director for our State Hospital North in Orofino. The primary duties of this position are to monitor and ensure hospital-wide compliance with laws, policies, and standards for quality of patient care.

 

We are looking for candidates who have the ability to work within a professional shared decision-making environment. Applicants who have experience researching and formulating recommendations regarding best practice approaches to hospital operations are encouraged to apply. This position will require critical thinking in reviewing policies and developing and/or revising corrective action plans. Knowledge of clinical practice models is helpful.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Ÿ   Serve as consultant to Administrative Director on issues related to compliance with laws, policies, and licensure

Ÿ   Identify applicable regulations and standards

Ÿ   Ensure staff are notified of changes in standards and conditions

Ÿ   Establish methods, rules and procedures for problem identification, investigation and correction

Ÿ   Assign corrective action to appropriate staff

Ÿ   Report results to Administrative Director and leadership team

Ÿ   Administer the Quality Assurance Program, providing technical assistance and consultation where necessary

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Ÿ   Good knowledge of:

        -   Federal and state laws, rules, licensure and/or accreditation standards

        -   Quality assurance/improvement principles and evaluation methodologies applicable to hospital patient care programs, or residential care/treatment services in a long term care facility, or residential care/treatment services for incarcerated youth; and

        -   Hospital/facility functions and operations.

Ÿ   Some knowledge of training methods.

Ÿ   Experience developing long-term quality assurance/improvement goals, priorities, and performance standards applicable to hospital patient care programs, or residential care/treatment services in a long term care facility, or residential care/treatment services for incarcerated youth.

 

Additional Qualifications: Are not required; however, having the minimum qualifications and the experience and/or education below will increase your score.

 

Ÿ   Advanced degree in a clinical service area (RN, MSW, LCSW, etc).

Ÿ   Experience working with internal and external stakeholders and community groups to build partnerships. Typically gained by at least six months of professional experience working with stakeholders to share information, coordinate efforts and/or achieve shared goals.

Ÿ   Some knowledge of risk management paradigms. Typically gained by at least six months of professional experience managing risks; OR completion of upper-division college coursework covering risk management paradigms.
