GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To ensure, through direct personal contact (telephone) with claimants and clients, that claims are investigated and resolved in
a highly efficient and cost effective manner. To achieve service excellence and successful file resolution by adhering to claims standards and best practices in order to meet or exceed client satisfaction, average paid and productivity objectives.
Handle claims, investigate circumstances, compensate the client in keeping with the guidelines and policies of the
Company while respecting contracts and commitments to quality in order to ensure client satisfaction.
Evaluate damages when required, estimate costs or commercial value, examine reports or other
documents, evaluate losses, establish claims guidelines, and determine settlement amounts if needed.
Analyze specific cases (cases outside mandate, complex, qualified as major losses, from independent firms involved
with subrogation or legalities) of settlements, provide recommendations to concerned parties or make decisions.
Write up an expert opinion on subrogation if applicable.
Propose solutions, negotiate settlement and reach agreements with clients, third parties or with other concerned parties.
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Post-secondary education (College diploma or University degree) in business or insurance related field is preferred.
CIP designation or enrolled in the program or enrollment upon commencement of job with completion of 2 courses per year required.
1-2 years of Claims Advisor experience, with exposure to property claims preferred.
Sound knowledge of insurance contracts required.
Good knowledge of insurance-related laws and regulations and how to apply them.
Proficient with computer systems (i.e: MS Word, Lotus, INDEM, Xactanalysis, etc).
An advanced intermediate level of English is required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Successful candidates will be required to work towards their CIP designation if they do not already have it.
Please note, the hours of operation for the Property team are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
