GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Subrogation and recovery of personal lines residential and automobile claims for all provinces (except Quebec) and occasionally the United States.
Give technical support to claims advisors on recovery matters and those files where we are seeking recovery under Direct Compensation for Property Damage (DCPD) prior to the transfer of the file to the recovery analyst.
Analyze requests for subrogation file transfer requested ​​by claims advisors and, if necessary, guide the claims advisor on necessary additional steps to complete before the transfer (ie. Secure statements, evidence, documentation, or expert opinion to carry on appearance recovery).
Required to investigate, validate, and analyze case information and develop both short term and long term action plans with an objective to recovering amounts owing, particularly those files of intermediate complexity.
Required to analyze, prepare and execute various verifications and calculations to establish the % of responsibility, and the legal position and any applicable depreciation.
Required to follow up on a regular basis both pre and post judgment.
Contact and communicate with parties responsible, and negotiate settlement and the method of payment, collecting monies owing.
Communicate (and/or support and advise) with various internal and external parties (including internal and external adjusters, technical advisors, sales agents, lawyers , third parties etc.).
As needed, provide technical support to the Recovery Analyst , level 1.
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
College Diploma in Business Administration or Insurance
CIP designation or enrolled in the program.
Minimum 5 years experience of Automobile and/or Property Insurance Claims file handling.
Knowledge of investigative techniques.
Sound knowledge of the company’s operational policies and procedures.
Basic knowledge of legal procedures and insurance legislations in Ontario, Atlantic and Western Canada.
Proficient with our in-house & other computer systems (i.e. INDEM, Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, Mitchell, Exactimate, CROMS etc.).
For external candidates: computer claims systems knowledge, Email, Microsoft Office Suite
Strong English proficiency (both verbal and written) is required.
