GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To investigate, evaluate, negotiate, resolve and pay property claims to meet objectives for average paid severity, productivity and client satisfaction.
Evaluate the scope of damage through face to face, on site contact. Look after clients by providing assistance as needed and by explaining the claims process and policy coverages.
Investigate possible loss causes and collect as much relevant information (statements, police reports, etc.) as possible in order to analyze and facilitate the claim.
Document the information required to settle the claim, making optimum use of the INDM system.
Negotiate with the various parties involved to ensure that claims proceed smoothly and that costs are controlled.
Propose fair settlement amounts to clients while adhering to company quality standards and policies, taking policy coverages into account.
Act as a resource and provide support to the inside property team.
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Post-secondary education (College diploma or University degree) in business or insurance related field is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years Property Field Claims experience (with at least one year in a field role).
CIP designation or enrolled in the program.
Valid "Class 5" Driver's License required (*will be required to provide Driver's Abstract).
Solid knowledge of claims policies and standards.
Superior knowledge of all property policies and the Insurance Act.
Experience working with an estimating system (Xactanalysis) is an asset.
Experience with scoping building damage is an asset.
Proficiency with computer systems (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, Lotus) is an asset.
An advanced level of English is required.

Please note that this position covers the Calgary area up to a 2 hour radius. The successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours and provide on call rotational pager support
