RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and train staff to use catastrophe models efficiently
- Participate in the hiring and performance evaluation of staff
- Monitor catastrophe exposures to assist with adherence to corporate capacity guidelines
- Utilize catastrophe models to evaluate reinsurance structures and strategies
- Manage rating agency returns and reinsurance placements
- Interact closely with brokers and other intermediaries including the representation of the organization at external industry events
- Develop and manage tools to assist with the optimization and pricing of portfolios
- Contribute ideas and innovative solutions to expand controls and processes to further risk management
- Support senior management in all areas of the measurement and control of risk
- Manage the Americas contribution to Head Office initiatives and liaise with peers in both Sydney and London offices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 7+ years industry experience (preferably P&C Actuarial background; minimum 5 exams)
- 2+ years specific catastrophe modeling experience (CCRA preferable but not required)
- Advanced knowledge of property insurance and Reinsurance business and of various types of reinsurance/retro structures
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of catastrophe modeling tools and techniques
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and relational databases such as SQL Server
- Advanced knowledge with RMS and/or AIR catastrophe modeling software
- Experience with or knowledge of Visual Basic or other programming languages
- Familiarity with intermediary exposure management tools
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to influence and present to senior management
- Ability and enthusiasm to provide direction and leadership to team
- Effective time and project management skills
