POSITION SUMMARY
Job Function – Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Enterprise Applications, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and action, the Data Architect is responsible for providing leadership in the establishment of the information and data architecture strategy and framework that will form the foundation to enable APS to effectively use, consume, analyze, distribute and report data.
APS-OIT (Office of Information Technology) is the technology division for APS supporting enterprise solutions ranging from student information systems (SIS), ERP system (HR, finance, payroll etc.) APS employs over 120 trained technology professionals and is constantly looking for talented individuals who can help develop smart and innovative solutions impacting student achievement. APS employs a wide range of latest tools and technologies to help achieve these objectives such as Lawson ERP, SharePoint Portal, .NET application technology, VMWare etc. This position will report to the IT Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and supervise the setup of the APS Enterprise Data Warehouse and supporting key other initiatives.

Direct planning, organizing and leading the direction, design and development of overall robust and scalable data architecture strategy for all APS systems.

Interacts with teams/resources responsible for enterprise data modeling, business intelligence, data warehousing, reporting and analytics across APS IT.

Manages and is held accountable for the enterprise design of data warehouses models, data marts, operational data stores, and data dictionary.

Direct development and implementation of a data governance process by working with senior leadership and business teams. Governance must address data standardization and ways to address exponential data growth, and include establishing Data Owners and Stewards.

Ensures that projects and project teams are in alignment with the Enterprise Architecture end state vision regarding data architecture. Has independent authority to approve/reject proposed solutions from the development teams on projects.

Manages the enterprise view of the needs, goals, and directions during strategic planning efforts. Provides thought leadership on the implementation of the enterprise architecture across all application portfolios.

Works collaboratively with the business and delivery organizations' leaders within assigned portfolios on the implementation strategy for the enterprise data architecture to plan the current state transition to reach the desired future state.

Position Title: DATA ARCHIECT
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education:
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Work Experience:
10+ years of overall experience with 5+ years’ experience with relational DBMS, preferably MS SQL and Oracle.
5+ years’ experience managing the design and development of database applications and data warehousing solutions across multiple projects.
5+ years managerial experience utilizing strong leadership skills including mentoring, communication, decision-making and project management.
Experience with BI solution such as Crystal Reports, SQL Server Reporting
Services. Deep understanding of relational DBMS and SQL.
Experience in assessing and closing transactional and business intelligence /analytics data gaps in large-scale heterogeneous environment where both packaged software and internally developed software exists is required.
Experience in data warehousing experience. Five to seven years of experience in leading data integration efforts in large-scale programs.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
